Community rules
The forum and chat rooms are for learning: science, maths and any other subject. They are family-friendly (PG) and open to anyone aged 13 or over.
Welcome
- Questions at every level, including the ones you think are obvious.
- Explanations, worked examples, revision tips and study groups.
- Polite disagreement, with reasons.
- Corrections to anything on this site.
Not allowed
- Anything dangerous. No instructions or help making explosives, weapons, poisons, toxic gases or illegal drugs, and no ways to get around safety controls. Lab-safety questions are welcome; harm is not.
- Adult or sexual content, gore, or anything not suitable for a 13-year-old.
- Bullying, harassment, hate or slurs.
- Self-harm or suicide content. If you are struggling, please talk to someone now: in the UK call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24 hours) or text SHOUT to 85258.
- Personal information: yours or anyone else's. No addresses, phone numbers, school names or social handles, and no arranging to meet.
- Cheating: no posting live exam papers or doing someone's coursework for them.
- Spam, advertising and illegal content of any kind.
How moderation works
Every post and message is checked automatically before it appears, and anything borderline waits for a human moderator. Anyone can report a post. Repeated reports hide it until a moderator reviews it. Breaking the rules can get your account suspended. Illegal content is reported to the relevant authorities.
There are no private messages. Every conversation happens in the open, where moderators can see it.
